A 7–10 day Meta Ads test: how to decide whether to hire the agency

A week of advertising can show whether ads went live, inquiries reached the business and some people matched the intended buyer. It will seldom answer the bigger question on its own: what it costs to acquire a profitable customer repeatedly. Before you hire an agency for ongoing management, ask for a closeout that keeps those levels of evidence apart. If buying takes weeks, an opportunity does not become a win or a loss when the ad stops running.

Use the before-test decision record

This guide helps you evaluate a short test a provider has proposed. Seven or ten days is neither a Meta standard nor a condition every agency offers. ALTO ROI's current Meta Ads offer starts with a free 30–45 minute conversation, with no obligation to hire us. Media spend is paid directly to Meta; scope, management fees and additional production are agreed separately. There is no sales guarantee or automatic contract. That initial assessment is not a free campaign: confirm what is proposed for your business, its duration and its cost in writing before starting.

Define the decision before buying media

A test without a business question often ends with a slide deck of clicks and a request for more time. Choose one offer, an area you can actually serve and an observable definition of a useful inquiry. A commercial equipment seller in Buenos Aires, for example, might want quotes from operating businesses within its installation area that expect to fit out a location in the next few months. “Get more leads” does not establish whether the provider found plausible buyers.

Record four things before launch: what change will be tested, the media limit, who will respond and what evidence would support the next decision. An agency can prepare campaigns, but it cannot invent your margin, stock or sales capacity. Without a named sales owner, the test may show that ads delivered while leaving the commercial opportunity unknown.

What would justify hiring? One offer, buyer group and desired sales actionBusiness lead + provider
What is included?Assets, ad destination, available measurement and separately priced workProvider
What can we spend?Media cap, currency, payer and who can approve an increase; separate management and productionBusiness lead
When does it really start?Preparation, first day approved ads actually run, interruptions, end and decision meetingProvider
Who responds?Person, workable hours, record and next action for each inquirySales lead
What is useful?Fit criteria; distinguish confirmed mismatch from missing informationSales + business lead
What do we retain?Access to accounts and data, assets, closing report and control of media spendingBusiness lead + provider
What happens next?Ongoing fees, new media budget, continuation and exit termsBusiness lead + provider

This is a buying tool, not a standard contract. Adapt it to your operation. If the offer has not sold yet or margin cannot cover paid learning, examine the economics first. The advertising profitability map can compare assumptions, but cannot certify that a campaign will meet them.

Close the inquiry journey, not just the dashboard

Ask for a simple reconciliation at the end: actual spend; platform records; inquiries the business actually received; unique people; people qualified under the agreed definition; open opportunities; confirmed customers. Add the cutoff date and rejection reasons. A WhatsApp click does not prove that a message was sent or received, and two forms from one person do not create two new buyers.

There is no magic volume at which ten days become statistically conclusive. With few inquiries, use the test to identify observable problems in the offer, delivery or response path. Treat rates as descriptions of this sample. Do not attribute an opportunity that predated the test to a new ad. Do not label an open proposal a sale or a loss.

Fictional example, not an ALTO ROI result. Media spend is 180 currency units. Meta reports 15 records; a receipt and duplicate check leaves 12 unique inquiries. Four meet the agreed criteria, five do not and three lack enough information. Of the four qualified inquiries, two opportunities are still open and two were rejected. No customer is confirmed at the cutoff.

Observed media cost per unique inquiry is 180 ÷ 12 = 15. Cost per qualified inquiry is 180 ÷ 4 = 45. Dividing by the 15 platform records answers a different question; folding three unknowns into five confirmed mismatches conceals an information gap. With zero confirmed customers, there is no finite observed customer acquisition cost from which to infer profitability. The 180 also covers media only: future management, production and other agreed costs belong on separate lines. Twelve inquiries cannot support a promise that next month's rate will be the same.

A general agency report helps you read longer periods. This guide focuses on the hiring decision at the end of a short test. For a longer paid campaign, the Argentina advertising decision guide addresses which offer merits budget before you increase volume.

Delivery and follow-up work and a further learning goal can be fundedConsider paid management with a set reviewComplete fees, separate media budget, owners, measures and a stop/continue date

“Continue” should not be an assumed automatic extension of the trial or paid service. Before starting, ask for the closing date, whether you must explicitly cancel, who can pause ads and which spending or fee would begin afterward. If that is unclear, resolving it is part of the buying decision. A recommendation to continue does not itself authorize more budget.

In the example, the owner may wait for the two open opportunities without more spending. They may investigate why five inquiries did not fit, or fund a further test with one clear change. None follows merely because 180 has already been spent. Before hiring, include the fee that would begin after a free test and confirm who controls media, creative and sales follow-up.

Copy this closing record: “As of [date], we verified [fact and source]. We still do not know [unknown]. We choose [wait/fix/stop/continue with a limit] because [reason]. [Owner] will [action] by [date]. Additional media authorized: [amount and currency, or zero]. We will review [evidence] to decide [next step].”

Before speaking with ALTO ROI

Bring one offer that already sells, the area you serve, approximate margin, how inquiries are handled and any existing sales records. That is enough to request an initial Meta Ads assessment and decide whether a test, an earlier fix or a pause makes sense. The full decision method is available here without hiring us.

Frequently asked questions

Can ten days prove that customer acquisition is profitable?

No fixed test length guarantees that. Volume, response quality and the buying cycle matter. You can inspect delivery and early conversations while keeping revenue and customer outcomes open.

Does a free assessment mean free advertising?

No. ALTO ROI offers a free initial conversation; media spend is paid directly to Meta, and fees and production are agreed separately. If any provider proposes a management-fee-free test, ask what it includes and who pays each cost.

What if there were no sales but two proposals remain open?

Preserve the cohort and set a date to revisit each opportunity. Waiting without more ad spend is an option. Do not record zero CAC or buy an extension just to fill an empty metric.

Sources and method

Sources checked October 4, 2026. ALTO ROI's terms were checked against its public home and service pages in Spanish and English on October 4, 2026. Those pages describe the initial assessment and a subsequent scope agreement; they do not advertise a management-fee-free 7–10 day test. The 180-unit example and both decision records are original hypothetical tools, containing no client data or Argentina benchmark. The decisions are buying recommendations, not platform rules. The analysis does not require external performance figures: its calculations can be reproduced from the stated inputs.
